If you've ever read a news alert about a Supreme Court decision and thought, "But what does it actually mean?" — or sat through a local government meeting feeling completely lost — you're not alone, and you're not behind. The truth is that most Americans were never properly taught how any of this works. A semester of high school civics, if you even had one, covered the broad outlines. It didn't show you the mechanics.
That's the gap The Civic Blueprint was built to fill.
I designed this school for adults who want to participate in democracy with genuine competence — not just passion, but knowledge. Because passion without knowledge can leave you frustrated, misled, or simply ignored. When you understand how a bill actually moves through committee, you stop being surprised when popular legislation stalls. When you know your rights at a public meeting, you stop hesitating to use them. When you can read a court ruling directly, you don't have to trust someone else's interpretation of it.
Every section of this curriculum was built around a simple question: What does an engaged citizen actually need to know and be able to do? Not theory for its own sake — practical understanding that translates into action. How do you contact a senator in a way that gets a real response? How do you verify a viral claim before you share it? How do you disagree with your neighbor about a ballot measure without burning the relationship? Those are the skills this school develops, alongside the foundational knowledge that makes them possible.
